Hand Ella your phone screens and reference checks
Forty applicants, the same six questions, written down the same way every time. Then the interview confirmations, the reference calls and the client who needs a start date. Give Ella the list, the consent record and your questions. She makes the calls and emails you every answer.
From $29 a month for 10 calls. Nothing is charged until your account is approved.
You give her the errand. Ella makes the phone calls.
She calls each contact from your own Ella number, between 8 AM and 8 PM where they are. She asks your questions, answers theirs from what you said she may share, leaves a voicemail when nobody picks up, and takes the callbacks. You get the summary and transcript of every call.
Every call opens the same way, played by code, not left to the model:
Hi, this is Ella, an AI assistant calling for your name at your company. This call is recorded.”
What she takes off your desk
First-round phone screens
She calls each applicant who agreed to her call, asks your questions in the same order every time, and writes the answers into one table per person. You read them and decide.
Scheduling and confirming interviews
She offers the times you gave her, writes down which one works, and the day before calls to confirm the candidate is still interested and still coming.
Reference checks
Former employers are businesses. She calls each reference with your questions, leaves a voicemail if nobody picks up, takes the callback and emails you what they said.
Start dates and paperwork
She calls the client company to confirm a placed candidate's start date, where to report and what paperwork is still missing, and sends you a summary after the call.

Calls out to people who agreed
Screening a stack of applicants
The brief: “Call these 20 applicants for the office manager job. All agreed on our application to a call from an AI assistant. Ask: still interested, years running an office, software used, pay expected, earliest start.”
What she does: Ella calls each one between 8 AM and 8 PM where they are and asks the same five questions. The answers land in one table per person, with a summary, the transcript and the recording. She doesn't score anyone; you decide who moves on.
Calls out to businesses
Three reference checks
The brief: “Call the three former employers this candidate listed. Confirm the dates worked and the job title, and ask whether they would hire her again.”
What she does: She asks each employer the same questions, leaves a voicemail when nobody answers, and takes the callbacks to your Ella number. If one asks something only you can answer, the question comes to you and she calls them back with your answer.
Calls out, confirms dates
Start-date confirmations
The brief: “Call the hiring managers at these four client companies. Confirm the start date for the person we placed, where they should report on day one, and what paperwork is still needed.”
What she does: She confirms each date and what's missing, and emails you a note per client. A client who calls back reaches her on your number, and she knows which placement they're calling about.
Whom she may call
Candidates are individuals. Ella calls one only if that person agreed to be contacted by an automated or AI assistant for you, and you recorded where and when, such as an application form or a reply that says so. Anyone without that on record is refused by name and never called. No sourcing, cold outreach to passive candidates or purchased lists. Former employers and client companies are businesses, so a businesses errand covers reference and client calls. Every errand is checked before she contacts anyone. More on the rules in the main FAQ.
Which plan: Screens are short calls, so count people, not minutes. A recruiter screening 40 applicants a month fits Pro and its 50 calls. Ten screens a month fits Starter; an agency screening for several clients, Business and its 200.
Pricing
Monthly, per conversation: a call that reached a person or voicemail, a call to your number, or one email or text thread with one contact. No answer, busy and failed dials are free. Calls don't roll over.
- Your number, one per account: toll-free $2.00 a month or local $2.50 a month, on the same bill.
- Extra calls past your plan: $3.50 each, billed at the end of the month. You set a ceiling on them (25 to start, 0 to 1,000, or none); at the ceiling she stops starting new calls and tells you, and calls to your number are still answered.
- Texts need your number registered with the mobile carriers; any carrier or Twilio fee for it is passed on at cost.
- Change plans in your settings: upgrades right away, downgrades at renewal. Cancel any time.
Questions
More on Ella's main page.
Whom will Ella call for me?
Applicants and candidates are individuals, so Ella calls one only on an individuals errand, when that person agreed to be contacted by an automated or AI assistant for you and you recorded where and when they agreed, such as an application form or a reply that says so. Anyone without that on record is refused by name and never called. Every call is to someone who asked to hear from you. Former employers and client companies are businesses, so a businesses errand covers reference and client calls.
Can she source candidates or call a list I bought?
No. She never makes sales or marketing calls to individuals, and she doesn't do sourcing, cold outreach to passive candidates or calls to a purchased list. Every errand is checked before anyone is contacted, and one that looks like marketing is refused.
Does Ella score or rank candidates?
No. She asks the questions in your brief in the same order, writes down the answers, and puts them in one table per person. You read them and decide who moves on. After each call you also get a summary, the transcript and the recording.
Do candidates know they're talking to an AI?
Yes. Every call opens with a line played by code, not left to the model: "Hi, this is Ella, an AI assistant calling for <your name> at <your company>. This call is recorded." She answers their questions about the job only from what you said she may share. A question only you can answer comes to you, and she calls them back with your answer.
Does she connect to my ATS?
No. You give her the list, the consent record and the questions, from the dashboard or from ChatGPT or Claude in your own words. Results come to you by email after every call, on your dashboard, or in ChatGPT or Claude if you connect her there.
What if a candidate misses the call?
She leaves a voicemail and tries again within the limits you set. She calls from your own Ella number, so callbacks reach her, and she knows which job they're calling about.
When does she call, and can she text?
Between 8 AM and 8 PM where the person is, inside the window you set. Email works from the start. Texts work once your number is registered with the carriers, which takes one to three weeks. English only, US numbers.
